Unisex Autumn and Winter Trends 2021

With possibly only a few weeks or months left before the Southern Hemisphere welcomes Autumn and Winter, it only makes sense that I make a fashion post about what the predicted trends for this year's autumn and winter will be!

Without further ado, the list is enclosed below:

1. LEATHER

The Matrix Incarcerated?? Leather was a trending fabric in the year of 2020, it surely is going to be a continuous trend this winter.

2. CAPES

These are not as "cool" as Superman's nor Batman's but they sure will keep you not only warm, but fashionable as well. These items always make a return during this time of the year. So, it is no surprise that they made it to this list.

3. PATCHWORK

A quirky trend that has been around for some time but making it's more prominent appearance in the last 3 years. This style is unisex and versatile. Patchwork is a way of sewing together abstract pieces of fabric, including various patterns, colours and textures. I am super excited to see how you style this!!

4. FUZZY CARDIGANS/ SETS

Want something cute but also comfy? These fuzzy sets and cardigans are the ONE. These are found in a variety of colours- you can have a mini collection! I have spotted these at Factorie, Cotton On, Fashion Nova and Loungewear but there are other stores that have them too.

5. BOLD CHECKS

Checks over stripes, that is definitely what we like this Winter. This is another unisex trend that has been surfacing over the years. Bold checks are suitable for your street wear and your trip to a lunch meeting.

6. COLOURFUL FAUX-FUR COATS

Be bad, boujee and warm this autumn/winter with these colourful faux-fur coats. They go with almost everything. Put it over your long or short bodycon dress with high heels and head over to a night out! You can also wear it with your street style outfits. If the weather is really frosty put your comfy fuzzy set (aforementioned in number 4) with this faux-fur coat then you are good to go.

7. PUFFER JACKETS

Puffer jackets are an essential if we are being honest. I suggest buying bright-coloured puffer jackets- red, yellow, orange, royal blue etc - they will undoubtedly brighten your outfit, trust me ;)

8. BODYCON DRESSES

Yes, it is cold but if you play your fashion cards right, you will not have to hide your body this winter. Bodycon dresses are absolutely to die for!! Rock your long bodycon dress with a long trench coat and comfy ankle boots. You can also wear your favourite pair of sneakers with your dress and add either a puffer jacket or a faux-fur coat.

9. KNITWEAR

Clarity is clear to see that this was going to make it to this list without fail, because really, what is Autumn or Winter without knitwear? Exactly! So, whether you rock a plain design, bandage style or a plaid print, you will never go wrong with knitwear in these two seasons.

10. RELAXED DENIM

One thing about denim? You can never go wrong with it, and with this season it is no different. Relaxed denim ( mom jeans, boyfriend jeans, slouchy jeans) should be part of your closet this coming Autumn and Winter- if you have not already added it.

11. CORDUROY

Corduroy is not something new to us, I think once in our lives we have all worn corduroys. Well, they have made a comeback, expect to see them making their way to your favourite stores' shelves as Autumn and Winter creep slowly closer. If you are a fan of this fabric, I recommend that you buy corduroys that are burnt oranges, olive-tone hues and earth-toned.

12. ARGYLE

I am currently obsessed with this style and pattern. The Argyle pattern is various, there are sweaters, vests and pullovers. You can style this geometric pattern with relaxed jeans and sneakers or you can wear a cute tennis/ pleated mini skirt with a collared shirt. The colours vary from brown, pink, blue, white etc.

13. MONOCHROMATIC/ EARTH TONE

Monochromatic fashion trend is about wearing different shades and tints of the same colour. I suggest wearing a colour that will look good against your skin tone and hair. Play around with different textures for your monochrome outfit. Add some pattern in your outfit. Just because it is solid colours, it does not mean that you cannot add a pattern that matches your colour scheme.

I hope that this list helps you determine what you want to add to your closet for Autumn and Winter, and that if you already have some of these items I hope that the tips given in between will assist you in looking your outmost best!
